Black and blue ram slots

When I initially asked for help buying memory that would be compatible, the reply here said I could put my two new 16 GB DIMMs in the two empty slots - but the video on your site for installing memory said that paired slots were usually color coded - and there are two black slots next to each other and then two blue slots, and the existing memory is in one of each. The two 8 GB DIMMs that came with the computer are in slots 0 and 2 (per the utility, though articles seem to name the slots 1-4), and there are two empty slots (presumably 1 and 3 - I've searched in vain for a motherboard manual or anything that will tell me which slots are which). I'd like to add additional memory to my new HP Envy computer - and I have watched several videos, looked inside, and used the hwi_586 utility to see where the installed memory is, and I still have a question. What do motherboard RAM slot colors meanThe Question: I have always seen that the motherboard RAM slots are colored in pairs, butnever knew what it meant.
